Mattrick "lives like a Saudi prince and takes a private jet to work"

Man of the moment Don Mattrick has been described as a division head who lives like a Saudi prince”.

A profile of the exec on Fast Company claims that he takes a private jet to work, name-drops celebrity friends and lives in the largest house in British Colombia valued at $28m. Inside is housed a ten-car garage that currently homes a selection of Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Lotuses.

He’s apparently also somewhat of a name-dropper and in the course of the interview names the likes of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Wayne Gretzy as members of hic close social circle.

He is also described by associates as having this really ambitious vision”, of being just relentless, dogged about pushing people beyond their comfort zones” and of scaring the crap out of people” to ensure that targets are met.

However, it should also be said that Mattrick has one trait that the games industry could arguably benefit from having much more of – he loves games. According to Microsoft colleague Phil Spencer: If you want to see the man light up, walk him into a development studio.”
