MCV’s five-a-side championship returns next month

Back by popular demand, the Games 5s five-a-side tournament returns next month.

Just in time for the World Cup, the contest will pitch publishers, developers and retailers against each other on June 24th.

Games 5s is supported by headline sponsor PlayStation.

Replica World Cup trophies and Sony prizes are up for grabs for the winners – plus bragging rights of having beaten your peers at the beautiful game, of course.

The event’s after party will include the prize ceremony and then a screening of the England vs Costa Rica group match, which takes place on the same day – plus a virtual 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil tournament on PS4.

Games 5s takes place at Barnet Power League football grounds in North London, with kick off at midday (registration 11am) followed by the awards ceremony, a barbecue, then the match screening in the bar.

It costs 499 per team to take part – that includes entry to the day’s competition for a team of up to seven players, soft drink during the day, food after the tournament, plus drinks tokens to redeem at the bar during the World Cup match screening. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to GamesAid after the event.
