ELSPA director promoted at anti-piracy coalition

ELSPA’s director general Michael Rawlinson has been promoted to vice chairman of the Alliance Against IP Theft.

The Alliance is a UK-based coalition of 20 associations and enforcement organisations that work to protect the industry’s IP rights.

Rawlinson has been working with the organisation as treasurer for two years.

With the UK games software industry alone estimated to lose 350m annually as a result of IP theft, ELSPA’s involvement has never been more important, and follows on from the work we aleady undertake through our IP Crime Unit and of course our continuing engagement with the Digital Economy Act,” he said.

As ELSPA transitions to the Association of UK Interactive Entertainment, to reflect the evolution and growth of the industry, I look forward to working with the Alliance to ensure the rights of our members receive adequate protection.”

The Alliance’s director general Susie Winter added: I am delighted to welcome Michael onboard as vice chairman at this exciting time. I know that his commitment and experience will help us ensure that the intellectual property rights of all our members receive the protection they deserve.”
