Fireproof headlining Indie Dev Day at Develop Brighton

Fireproof Studios co-founder Barry Meade will be the keynote speaker for the Indie Dev Day at the Develop in Brighton Conference.

In his presentation, entitled The Room with a View, Meade will discuss five-time Develop Award-nominated Fireproof Games’ journey from start-up outsourcer to developer of their own title, The Room for iOS, which has gone one to garner more than two million sales.

Taking place on July 11th, the Indie dev track currently features six sessions from developers such as Dlala Studios CEO AJ Grand-Scrutton on starting an indie studio, Xiotex founder Byron Atkinson-Jones and I Fight Bears founder Nicoll Hunt on how to win at Kickstarter and Dan Pinchbeck on making a studio sustainable outside the work-for-hire model.

Thomas Was Alone developer Mike Bithell and Simteractive CEO Elaine Reynolds will also be speaking on the track.

Sessions for the Indie Dev Marketing Day, which takes place on July 10th, have also been announced. The track is designed to offer advice to indies on the world of PR and marketing and how to spread the word about their games on limited resources.

Develop Editor Will Freeman and Premier PR director Simon Byron will discuss how best to catch a journalist’s attention. while Positech Games founder Cliff Harris and Grey Alien Games founder Jake Birkett will offer advice on how to stay in the industry for the long-term.

“The indie marketplace is occupying a really interesting space at the moment,” said Tandem Events MD Andy Lane.

“As the industry matures, there are more veteran developers and studios holding onto invaluable experience and knowledge to share with each other, and to hand down to the ever increasing pool of incredibly creative and inspirational new teams coming through. Develop in Brighton provides a unique platform for indies to learn, network and advance themselves, their games and their studios.”

The Develop in Brighton Conference will take place from July 9th to July 11th at the Hilton Brighton Metropole.
