IGN empire grows with Russia launch

Online giant IGN is launching a Russian version of its site this month as part of a deal with Eastern Europe publisher Gameland.

IGN Russia will offer Russian-language coverage of games, movies and PC hardware, with a team headed by Gameland magazine editor-in-chief Konstantin Govorun.

The new site means IGN’s content will now be available in 11 languages, including Arabic and Chinese. It follows the launch of sites such as IGN Middle East and IGN Germany.

With increasing appetite among Russian gamers for IGN’s content, we’re excited to be working with the team at Gameland to bring IGN to Russia,” said international VP and MD Ian Chambers.

As we launch in new markets, we’re building a network of expert editorial teams across the world, delivering round-the-clock news and coverage for gamers in their own language.”

IGN is working on sites for other international markets, including India, Brazil and Turkey.
