Project management site aimed at indie and mod developers

IGN launches ModCenter

IGN Entertainment has launched ModCenter, a game development management website designed for use by independent developers and mod creators.

The service, built on CollabNet’s SourceForge toolset, gives game teams a full project management suite including task delegation, bug tracking, forums, source code repositories and the ability to host a wiki for the group. Tutorials, videos and general articles from industry developers will also soon be featured on the website.

“IGN and GameSpy have always supported user-created content editorially as well as through promotion and distribution,” said Jamie Berger, senior vice president of consumer products & technology for IGN Entertainment.

“Mod and Independent game development is becoming increasingly sophisticated, often involving team members from across the globe. With ModCenter, our aim is to provide these aspiring and game developers with sophisticated project management and development tools to support the creation and distribution of high-quality independent video games.

“We are especially pleased to work with CollabNet and their SourceForge system, a proven leader in tools and community support for open source software development.”
