Miyamoto confirms new Super Mario Bros 3DS

Shigeru Miyamoto is working on a new Super Mario Bros title for the Nintendo 3DS.

The iconic developer confirmed his new project during the latest Iwata Asks interview on Nintendo’s website, in which he claimed will be designed specifically to make use of the new handheld’s unique technology.

In the interests of adopting new technology for the Super Mario Bros tradition, I am now making a new Super Mario Bros game for the Nintendo 3DS,” he said.

I want to show everyone as soon as possible what the new Super Mario Bros will be like on 3DS.”

This new Super Mario Bros is not to be confused with New Super Mario Bros, the best-selling series that reinvigorated Mario’s 2D platforming escapades on both Wii and DS. Whether the new title will follow a similar formula remains to be seen.
