Device rumoured to be on target for Black Friday launch

Amazon working on Android console

Amazon is working on its own Android console for release on or around Black Friday, claim sources.

The company has been in hardware manufacturing for a while, with both the Kindle e-reader and the Kindle Fire tablet on shelves, and Amazon even has its own Android app store.

According to Game Informer, people with “knowledge of the in-development hardware” claim that Amazon will be taking advantage of titles already available through this platform to release its own game console with a dedicated controller.

An Amazon spokesperson declined to comment, saying the company doesn’t comment on rumors or speculation.

Amazon isn’t the only company rumored to be entering the micro-console arena.

Sources have reported that both Apple and Google are working on their own living-room systems, and Samsung has already unveiled a controller for the Galaxy S4 that can double as a console.
