Tool supports development for iOS, Android, Windows, Blackberry and Mac

App Game Kit 2 launching today on Steam

The Game Creators is set to launch the latest version of its cross-platform development tool App Game Kit on Steam later today.

The engine is designed to be an easy-to-use coding tool for beginners, hobbyists and indies. Code can be written in AGK BASIC and then compiled to each platform without source code changes. Programmers can also create their apps in C++ if required.

App Game Kit 2 is available on both Windows and Mac, and apps can be released on iOS, Android, Windows, Blackberry and Mac. The tool will be available for download later today for $99.

“We’ve significantly improved AGK by making the IDE cross platform, speeding up the compiler and adding new and powerful commands,” said The Game Creators development director Rick Vanner.

“Games can be developed and instantly deployed to their chosen mobile devices for rapid prototyping.”

App Game Kit 2 was successfully crowdfunded on Kickstarter in June 2013, raising £33,026 from 896 backers, smashing its goal of £5,000.

You can find more details about the development tool on Steam.
