Apple confirms iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3

Apple has confirmed a pair of new devices in its iPad tablet line ahead of a product unveiling planned for later this week.

9to5mac reports Apple has made mention of the yet-to-be announced iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 in its recently released iOS 8.1 user guide.

The images included in the guide don’t go into details on the various improvements of the models over their predecessors, but indicate that Touch ID – Apple’s fingerprint-reading feature – is on-board both devices.

The report adds that the iPad Air 2 is expected to be offered in a gold color option, carries a faster A8X processor and packs a Burst picture taking feature.

Apple teased the Air 2 for the imminent event just last week. It’s set to take place this Thursday and will be streamed live via the company’s website.
