Apple in for German TV manufacturer?

Claims have emerged online that Apple is in negotiations to acquire German TV manufacturer Loewe AG.

AppleInsider claims that the deal could be finalised and announced by the end of the week.

The site reckons that deal could close for around $112m. Loewe AG currently has a market cap of $76m. The company currently employs around 1,000 staff. As well as its audio components and integrated entertainment products, it’s best known for its minimalist TV sets.

Apple has long been rumoured to be preparing an iTV product to sit alongside its iPhone, iPad, iPod and Mac lines.

A possible acquisition of Loewe would also open the door to first party audio accessories.
