Five games backed by investment initiative to be released during the summer

Kongregate reveals first $10m mobile fund devs

Online games portal Kongregate has revealed the first five mobile developers to have their games backed by its $10 million development fund.

Launched earlier this year, the programme was designed to encourage independent developers to create mobile titles for its platform.

Developers and games to successfully gain funding are Synapse Games for Tyrant: Unleashed, BloodRealm co-developers RedPoint Labs and Making Fun, LingPlay for Sheep Happens, White Milk Games for Endless Boss Fight and Cardinal Quest 2 creator Randomnine Ltd.

The first title to be released will be Synapse’s Tyrant: Unleashed, which will be available this July. The rest of the titles are set to come out later this summer.

Additional developers taking part in the scheme will also be announced later this year.

"Our past experience is invaluable and allows us to generate recommendations based on detailed analysis of similar titles," said Kongregate VP of mobile Pany Haritatos.

"Kongregate works with developers of all game genres from CCG to MMO and RPG titles. We have micro level insights into successful game mechanics that can make a huge difference in monetization and retention. Applying that level of expertise to a mobile launch is essential to launching a successful game."
