More than half of PS4 owners have subscribed to PlayStation Plus

PlayStation Plus is proving hugely popular with PS4 owners.

CVG reports that Sony CEO Kaz Hirai told investors that "of all the 4.2m PS4s that have moved into the hands of consumers, more than half of those people have signed up for the PS Plus service".

There are now also over 150m registered PSN accounts

The cause, of course, is open to debate. Certainly Sony’s decision to place online multiplayer behind a subscription paywall will not have hurt but it would be wrong to ignore the goodwill generated by the Instant Games Collection program.

Signing up to PlayStation Plus today gives you unlimited access to a number of titles including Metro Last Light, BioShock: Infinite, Outlast, Borderlands 2, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Guacamelee and Uncharted.
