Now Vodafone delays Xperia Play launch

It looks like the chances of Sony Ericsson’s PlayStation phone the Xperia Play hitting the UK High Street tomorrow are becoming increasingly slim.

An email forwarded to VG247 last night suggests that Vodafone has now delayed the launch of the handset.

Sony Ericsson have advised us that they will not be able to supply the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play to meet the original launch date of April 1st," the statement reads.

"Unfortunately, this means there will be a small delay to your order.

We are working closely with Sony Ericsson to ensure your phone is delivered as soon as possible and we will be in touch again with specific timescales when we know more. We appreciate this is disappointing and are doing our very best to resolve this as quickly as possible.”

The news follows O2’s confirmation last week that it wouldn’t be ready for April 1st due to what it described as "some bugs" with the software.

And a quick look on the Orange website this morning offers a not very encouraging ‘coming soon’ launch date for the device. The Xperia Play isn’t even listed on the T-Mobile website, despite confirmation that the network will be offering it.
