PlayStation Plus prices increased in North America

Sony has announced an increase to the subscription prices for PlayStation Plus in both North America and Canada.

As of September 22nd an annual subscription to the service will increase from $50 to $60 in the US. A three month membership plans will jump from $18 to $22. Monthly membership stays the same at $10.

In Canada monthly membership will increase to $12 CAD. Annual membership will cost $70 CAD and three-monthly $30 CAD.

Those who buy membership plans before that date will be spared the increase. And if you want out, don’t forget to turn off auto-renewal.

PlayStation Plus strives to enrich your PlayStation experience through a world-class service built for our fans,” Sony said. This marks the first time that PS Plus membership prices will increase in the US and Canada since the launch of the service in 2010. The new pricing reflects the current market conditions while enabling us to continue providing exceptional value to our members.

As a member, you will continue to enjoy the benefits and features that enable shared experiences, such as online multiplayer, free games, and exclusive discounts. You will also continue to get exclusive benefits such as online game save storage and discounts across the PlayStation digital services.”

There’s not yet any suggestion that PS Plus prices will be increased in the UK. There was an increase back in 2015, though with the current value of the pound pushing the prices of many things upwards another jump wouldn’t be the biggest surprise.
