PS3 unveils MUBI movie service

Sony’s video-on-demand offer for PS3 is to get a further expansion with news that SCEE has partnered with online film library service MUBI.

The deal will this autumn bring a host of independent, international and classic movie content to the console, with 300 titles scheduled to be available from launch. Films will be streamed over the internet and can be watched instantly.

Users will be required to download a free application to their console. Some of the content will be free and some available to rent on a weekly basis. Also offered will be a monthly subscription deal offering unlimited viewing.

PlayStation is about great entertainment, from games to content, delivered straight to the living room or enjoyed on the go,” SCEE president Andrew Cannes stated.

Today this ranges from VidZone, the free on demand service music service, through to PlayTV where you can watch, record and rewind live TV at your leisure.
