PS4 outsells Xbox One for 10th consecutive month in US

Sony has confirmed that PS4 was the best selling console in the US in October.

That marks the tenth month in succession that PS4 has bettered Xbox One, and somewhat dampens Microsoft’s celebrations earlier this week when it announced that Xbox One has outsold PS4 for the last two weeks.

Regardless, both machines continue to eclipse the sales enjoyed by the previous generation with NPD saying that cumulative sales are currently over 70 per cent higher than the combined first year totals of Xbox 360 and PS3”.

It is only the strength of hardware sales, however, that is keeping 2014 in line with 2013’s numbers as software sales continue to slump year-on-year.

NBA 2K15 was the month’s best selling game followed by Super Smash Bros, The Evil Within, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Destiny.

Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive misses out on the Top Ten, although it would have factored were the charts sorted by SKU rather than title.
