3D Blu-ray for PS3 next month

Sony has confirmed at the IFA trade show that a patch to introduce 3D Blu-ray movie playback on PS3 will be released some time next month.

It was first revealed in April that the planned June update that would bring the much-touted 3D game functionality to PS3 would not include support for 3D Blu-ray movies.

With 3D gaming very much in its infancy, support for the more established 3D film sector should prove a welcome shot in the arm for the console as it looks to help grow adoption of the technology in the home.
