Darrell Rodriguez heads up augmented reality firm, Disney’s Steve Parkis joins as COO

CastAR appoints former LucasArts boss as CEO

The augmented reality specialist formed by two former Valve devs has announced LucasArts exec Darrell Rodriguez has been brought into the fold.

Rodriguez takes on the role of CEO, VentureBeat reports, and will draw on his experiences as president and COO of the Monkey Island studio. He has also worked at Trendy Entertainment and International Game Technology.

“CastAR is primed to make mixed reality the place where the next breakthrough in entertainment will happen,” he said.

Meanwhile Steve Parkis, a former Disney executive, has also joined as president and COO. He has previously worked at Zynga and Storm8.

CastAR co-founder Jeri Ellsworth said: “Darrell and Steve not only share our passion for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in mixed reality gaming and entertainment, they are the one-two punch we have been looking for to drive CastAR into our consumer launch and beyond.”
