EA Sports Active makes $125m

Electronic Arts’ Wii fitness title EA Sports Active earned the company $125m in its most recent financial year, leading the publisher to heap praise on Nintendo’s challenging format.

Peter Moore, president of EA Sports said: As a company we’re great believers in the Wii.

Titles that take advantage of motion, particularly with MotionPlus, are really starting to resonate with the consumer."

The publisher expressed its desire to continue targeting fitness players with motion-sensor consoles, as well as traditional gamers, for its sports titles.

Moore said: It’s changing the model from a video game positioning to a fitness positioning.”

EA Sports Active was released in May last year and went on to become one of the top 20 most popular games on the Wii.
