EA’s Sean Decker heads to Eve Online developer CCP

EA Play4Free VP Sean Decker has joined Eve Online and Dust 514 developer CCP as senior VP of product development.

In his new role, Decker will be responsible for leading the company’s worldwide game development and will oversee the company’s studios in Newcastle, Reykjavik, Shanghai and Atlanta.

He will be based in Atlanta, and report to CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson.

“Sean’s extensive experience in the games industry will be extremely valuable for us as we enter the second decade of the Eve Universe,” said Pétursson.

“The next few years will be the most important in the company’s history, as we build on the launch of Dust 514, expand Eve Online, continue development of World of Darkness, and kick start our efforts in mobile gaming.”

Decker added: “I’m looking forward to helping CCP continue its tremendous growth. I’ve admired the company’s commitment to its games and players from afar for years, and now I’ll be able to be a part of that effort from the inside. I can’t wait to get started.”

During 12 years at publishing giant EA, Decker held numerous senior positions, and in his role as Play4Free VP ran a number of studios around the world focused on free-to-play game offerings. It’s this experience that could lend itself well to CCP’s newly released FPS MMO, Dust 514.
