Pong, Space Invaders and Yars' Revenge among new inductees

Minecraft and classic games join MoMA exhibit

Minecraft, the indie hit that continues to storm the world, and a set of arcade games have been added to the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Early arcade stalwarts Pong and Space Invaders have also been added.

All of the games, along with an original 14 installations, are part of the MoMA’s Applied Design exhibition, which opened in December 2012 and is curated by Paola Antonelli.

The museum has a wish list of 40 titles for the exhibition, so expect more to be added in the coming months.

The following six games, plus one hardware installation, have been added to the exhibit’s original 14 installations:

• Pong (1972)
• Space Invaders (1978)
• Asteroids (1979)
• Tempest (1981)
• Yars’ Revenge (1982)
• Minecraft (2011)
• Magnavox Odyssey (1972)
