Former EA Phenomic devs working with publisher on 'a number of projects'

Envision Entertainment partners with Ubisoft

Envision Entertainment, the new german studio formed from the remnants of EA Phenomic, has found its first partner in major publisher Ubisoft.

Envision launched last month, bringing with it a core team that’s been working together since the 1997 launch of Phenomic Games, including the trio of co-founders: Dirk Ringe, Boris Kunkel, and Volker Wertich.

The studio is already working with Ubisoft on “a number of projects”, with other clients to be revealed soon.

“We formed this new company to do what we do best – to build deep online strategy games,” said Ringe, now serving as CEO.

“We envision games that last for years, that are places that gamers return to frequently to find new challenges and meet like-minded people. Social strategy, so to speak.”

Kunkel and Wertich are each taking respective roles as COO and creative director.

The studio already has over 25 employees and boasts of its strong contacts among freelance game professionals, and says it’s capable of handling small and mid-sized projects for mobile, browser, and client.
