Facebook forms new engineering team at London office

Facebook has formed a new engineering team at its London office, it has announced.

The new centre will focus on building a core team of engineers to work on creating products in areas such as mobile.

The social network giant said that much like its operations in New York and Seattle, staff will be able to pursue "great" ideas and ship products quickly.

“London is a perfect fit for Facebook engineering,” read a statement from the company.

“It’s a global hub, and it has a vibrant local start-up community with lots of great technical talent.”

Facebook becomes the latest company to expand its operations in London’s resurgent technology hub this week, with the likes of Konami and Amazon also opening up new offices in the UK’s capital.
