Game director confirms active development on Tekken X Street Fighter

Tekken X Street Fighter game director Katsuhiro Harada has confirmed crossover fighting game Tekken X Street Fighter is still actively being developed.

In an interview with Polygon, Harada admits that the team had planned to launch the game in a more timely manner than the delay-riddled schedule that has evolved.

It’s very difficult to talk about. Obviously, I had originally planned to release it much earlier than we’re currently looking at,” Harada said.

People have been talking about the game for such a long time that they aren’t going to be surprised if you just release it normally.”

VG247 further reports that Harada states 40 Bandai Namco employees are currently working on the game, and that the fighting genre’s recent saturation of the market is one of the major factors in the delay.

All that in mind, Bandai Namco has yet to announce launch platforms or any kind of release window for the game. Harada added that Tekken 7 remains the company’s big thing” for the foreseeable future.
