UK mega-studio responsible for RuneScape signs new RTS

Jagex becomes third-party publisher

Cambridge developer Jagex has moved into third party publishing for the first time.

It is set to release browser based real time strategy game War of Legends by a currently unknown external developer. An official website welcoming new registrations is already live, but little else is currently known about the title.

Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard revealed that the studio behind RuneScape is moving into publishing when speaking to regional website Cambridge News about the publications Business Excellence Awards.

"2010 is set to be our most successful year to date, with more world class browser games, the publishing of War of Legends, our first third party developed title, and building on the success of our first iPhone game ‘Bounce Down’, which went straight to Number One in the UK and USA iTunes charts," revealed Jagex.

Currently the game’s developer is unknown, but in the coming days Develop will be able to reveal far more details about War of Legends.

The game’s release is set for early 2010.
