Mojang confirms Minecraft PS3 retail release in Europe, North America

Mojang has confirmed retail release plans for Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition in both North America and PAL regions.

Both the US and Europe PlayStation blogs report on the indie hit’s upcoming PS3 Blu-ray release, which follows Minecraft’s Xbox 360 version receiving the same treatment in 2013. News of the physical offering hit earlier today, thanks to a marketing email to PSN users surfacing.

Mojang announced in January that the game had sold 1m copies on PSN – adding slightly to the massive pile of sales it’s built up across computer, console, and mobile platforms.

Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition will hit shelves May 14th in Europe, and will arrive in stateside shops on May 16th. Minecraft’s port team 4J Studios is currently working on Xbox One, PS4, and Vita versions of the game as well.
