Now PS4 gets a Chinese price cut

Sony has followed news of a price cut for PS4 in Japan by announcing that the machine’s Chinese price is also being reduced.

Analyst Serkan Toto spotted a Chinese language press release confirming that the machine will October 1st drop from CNY 2,800 (284) to CNY 2,399 (244). That’s a saving of around 17 per cent, or 40.

Sony yesterday cut the price of PS4 in Japan from 40,000 (217) to 35,000 (190). Both changes will come into effect on October 1st.

This new reduction will increase speculation about further price drops in the West. Could Sony announce a European drop at the end of October? If it’s targeting the pre-Christmas market, it’s perhaps unlikely to wait that long.
