Former Sony Studios head takes home key accolade at Develop Awards

Phil Harrison named Development Legend

Phil Harrison was named Development Legend at the Develop Awards last night.

Over 500 industry execs attended the event to see the former head of Sony’s Worldwide Studios operation collect the accolade.

He was chosen by the Develop team for his contribution to the games industry. As president of SCE WWS, and in his previous roles at Sony, he was actively involved in commissioning key content that helped define the PlayStation – and the success of many studios, both internal to Sony and outside of it.

Harrison also publicly represented PlayStation and its many technical endeavours at events of all kinds around the world.

Most recently he spent a year as President of Atari, helping CEO David Gardner transform its product line up and improve its reputation in a matter of months. In that time he had also signed up a number of titles from independent developers around the world.

He had started his career in the games industry as a consultant game designer and graphic artist before becoming head of development for UK publisher Mindscape.
