Bayonetta 2 dev helping Shigeru Miyamoto with series' return

Platinum Games co-developing Star Fox Zero

Nintendo has brought in Platinum Games to help with the development of Star Fox Zero.

The studio’s involvement was revealed when director Yusuke Hashimoto joined Star Fox creator Shigeru Miyamoto on stage during a press event at E3, MCVreports.

This is not the first time another studio has been called in to handle Star Fox. Namco Bandai was called in to create Gamecube title Star Fox Assault, while Q-Games developed DS outing Star Fox Command.

Star Fox Zero was announced during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, and is "neither a sequel, nor a remake". It is due to launch on Wii U this Christmas.

The game was first shown off as a prototype at E3 last year, but has since come on a long way – thanks largely to Platinum, it seems.

The Japanese studio has a close relatioship with Nintendo, having developed Wii U exclusives The Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2.

Platinum is working on a number of interesting projects at the moment. It is currently developing Activision’s Transformers: Devastation and Square Enix’s Nier.
