PlayStation Vita Slim announced and dated

A new-look, cut-down version of the PlayStation Vita has been confirmed by Sony Japan.

It will be released in Japan on October 10th and will cost 18,980 (122).

The unit maintains the same stylings and overall design of the Vita we know, although the unit is both 20 per cent thinner and 15 per cent lighter, thanks in part to the omission of an OLED screen.

Battery life has been improved to six hours and 1GB of on-board memory is now provided. It will also come in a range of colours including white, black, grey, blue, yellow and pink.

No Western release date has been confirmed.
