2014 release date confirmed for PS4 in Japan

Sony has surprised gamers from its homeland with news of a significant wait for the console to be released in Japan.

PS4 will arrive in Japan on February 22nd priced at 39,980 (256) or for 43,980 (282) for those who also want a PlayStation Camera. A free digital copy of Knack will be included in the bundle for those who pre-order.

Compare that to its November 15th release in North America and its November 29th arrival in Europe.

Sony said that the longer than expected wait is to ensure it has time to prepare a selection of software that it considers suitable for the region.
