No data for 3G adoption

Pre-order Vita bundles sold out

The first edition bundles of the PlayStation Vita, available pre-launch, have sold out.

“It went great” Sony’s senior vice president of PlayStation brand marketing Guy Longworth told GameSpot.

“We sold out our pre-launch bundles, so we’re excited about that. We got a great response to it.”

The PS Vita launched today in Europe, Australia, the Middle East, North Africa, and North and South America.

Boasting 3G, Wi-Fi, and cross-platform compatibility, the Vita is Sony’s answer to competion from the Nintendo 3DS and mobile devices such as Android and iOS tablets.

Longworth would not disclose any data concerning user adoption of the Vita’s 3G connectivity, but claims the feature ‘future-proofs’ the device by opening it up to a variety of third-party apps like Facebook and Twitter.

"We think gamers are understanding that," he said, "but we’ll wait and see what happens.”
