PS3 is the most connected console

A new report from US analyst The Diffusion Group has claimed that the PS3 is the most connected next-gen console, with 78 per cent of purchased US machines enjoying internet connectivity.

In contrast, 73 per cent of Xbox 360s are online and just 54 per cent of Wiis.

The report also claims that one third of US households now own an internet-connected console – a stat that TDG says proves prior predictions that games console are in an ideal position to take charge of the video-on-demand market.

Results came from a sample of over 2,000 adults.

The natural conclusion is that, owing to the traditionally higher RRP of the PS3, those who bought into the hardware were more likely to be high-end tech users living in a networked console.
