Smartphone app can remotely turn on PS4s for downloads

Sony’s president of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed an interesting bit of functionality for PS4.

Speaking on Twitter, the exec revealed that consumers who buy a PS4 title using the corresponding smartphone app can remotely prompt their PS4 consoles to turn on and download the game.

The machine will turn itself off once it’s done.

Yoshida recently revealed – again via Twitter – that party chat will work cross-platform between PS4 and PlayStation Vita.
