Square Enix LA hit with layoffs

Square Enix has suffered an unspecified number of layoffs at its Los Angeles offices.

Rumour of the layoffs was leaked over the past weekend, and soon after Square Enix public relations director Riley Brennan confirmed the news to Massively.

Though Brennan declined to say how many employees were let go, he did say that the redundancies aren’t expected to have an affect on the developer’s current work on MMO titles – including Final Fantasy XIV.

In order to ensure it is operating effectively, the Square Enix Los Angeles office has reduced its workforce. This was a difficult decision and we wish the best for those affected by these changes. The decision will not have any impact on the operations of MMO titles. Customers can expect those services to continue, including the upcoming launch of Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn.”
