US: FFVII passes 100,000 downloads on PS3

Since its arrival on the North American arm of Sony’s PlayStation Network two weeks ago Square Enix’s retro RPG Final Fantasy VII has already been downloaded 100,000 times.

In doing so it becomes the fastest selling PSOne title on the network to date in the region, Gamasutra reports.

The game, which can be played both on PS3 and on PSP via Sony’s Remote Play technology, is one of the most cherished titles in modern games history, and is widely regarded as the finest title in the Final Fantasy series – though how much of that is down to the fact that it was the first in the series to go 3D is open to debate.

Sony has also confirmed that PSN now has over 25m registered members who have in total downloaded 500m pieces of content.
