Very exciting EA FPS due this year

Electronic Arts will soon announce a very exciting” FPS title that will hit shelves later in the year.

These hints were heavily dropped by EA CEO John Riccitiello during the firm’s Q3 financial call last night when he was asked about EA’s shooter line-up, according to VG247.

I’ve been saying that it’s our long-term goal to take back the first-person shooter category leadership,” he said. We made strong progress in calendar ’10 over calendar ’09.

This year, with the trail end of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 still doing well, Medal of Honor doing well, Crysis [2] and Bulletstorm, we’re clearly going to make more progress on our goal, and that’s before we get to what I think is going to be a very exciting entry later in the year that we’re not yet announcing.”

The mysterious title is most likely to be Battlefield 3, a title that has reportedly been in production for four years. Reports suggest the game will be officially unveiled at this year’s GDC.
