Watch Dogs has shipped 8m units

Ubisoft has confirmed some highly impressive numbers for new IP Watch Dogs.

The game has since its release in May seen 8m copies shipped to retailers worldwide.

The free-roaming hacking fest became the fastest selling new IP ever in the UK back in June, having also become Ubisoft’s biggest ever day one performer. It went on to sell 4m copies worldwide in its first week.

Ubisoft has in total racked up €360m in sales in its first financial quarter ending June 30th which is 374 per cent up year-on-year. Digital sales jumped 149 per cent to €84m with performers including Child of Light and Trials Fusion.

Ubisoft CEO and co-founder Yves Guillemot said of the numbers: "Although the financial year has only just started, our confidence for fiscal-year 2014-15 has been reinforced by our first-quarter performance and the keen anticipation for our upcoming games."
