Updates will reportedly install smoothly in the background

Xbox One games can be played while downloading

Xbox One users will be able to simultaneously download content whilst playing games.

A Microsoft representative confirmed the news to Polygon.

It means Xbox One users will be able to download content from Xbox Live without interrupting their gameplay.

When unveiling the Xbox One back in May, Microsoft stated that the next-gen console would let users play disc-based games whilst installing content.

However, the ambiguity of the statement left many in the dark as to whether the new console would fix the issue bemoaned by Xbox 360 users.

The ability rivals that of Sony’s PlayStation 4, which allows users to resume playing games once a game is partially downloaded.
