Report: EA closes North Carolina studio

EA has reportedly decided to shut down its mobile-focused studio in North Carolina.

The Escapist has word from an inside anonymous source that the publisher will close the branch, pointing to the sudden vanishing of the studio’s official page on EA’s website as well.

EA North Carolina primarily developed freemium titles for smartphone and tablet platforms, including its 2011 iOS release, Monopoly Hotels.

The source states that most of the team will be relocating before the 5th,” which suggests a good portion of the smaller” sized team may have already been offered work elsewhere by the publisher.

Still, EA has yet to confirm the closure and there’s no mention from the source on the exact number of those affected by it.
