Surprise – Amazon has launched a PlayStation Network Digital Games and DLC Store in the US.
Kotaku reports that the store will offer content for PS4, PS3 and Vita and is a direct alternative to buying directly through Sony. Buyers will be given codes upon purchase that can be redeemed on PSN.
As a launch promo it is offering $5 PSN credit free with selected purchases along with a buy-two-get-one-free offer on selected titles.
Considering that Sony is arguably already the leader when it comes to competitive pricing and sales of digital console content, that it now has a rival can only mean good things for PlayStation owners.
So, it must just be a matter of time until Amazon rolls out a PSN Store in the UK, right? Well, yes, that’s probably true – but considering the four-year gap between its US and UK PC digital games store rollouts let’s not get too excited just yet.
