Argos clarifies pre-owned ambitions

Retailer Argos has confirmed to MCV that its pre-owned trial revealed in March has not been rolled out nationwide… yet.

However, Argos has selected a number of key titles that consumers will be able to buy at a discounted rate if they trade in a combination of a specific selection of titles in any of its outlets.

Following the deal it ran on Read Dead Redemption last month, Argos today kicks off a trade-in deal for new Nintendo release Super Mario Galaxy 2 that can see customers trade in a range of titles up to a total value of 34.99, allowing them to get the game for free.

The offer is valid ‘at ANY till in ANY of our stores’ and runs until June 29th.

Our pre-owned trial is on-going in the 27 North East stores and as yet still not available nationally,” the Home Retail Group’s media relations officer Simon Bibby told MCV.

What we are now doing (call it phase two if you will) is to offer a trade-in deal nationally on a few key titles at launch. Nothing has been confirmed on the where we are going to take the 27 store trial but I guess it can’t be going badly.”
