CHINA: Warcraft hits one million unique users

World of Warcraft enjoyed a record peak of one million simultaneous users in China last month, according to publisher The9.

The figure was the title’s highest ‘concurrency’ since its commercial launch back in June 2005, and came after the territory’s release of expansion pack The Burning Crusade, in September last year.

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade is the first expansion pack for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Blizzard Entertainment and operated by The9 in mainland China.

In a statement, The9 said that The Burning Crusade had seen ‘many existing players return to the game and numerous new players be attracted to participate in the experience’.
