HMV appoints new Head of Online

Entertainment retailer HMV has announced the immediate appointment of Sarah Hughes as its new head of online.

Hughes joins from rival online firm Amazon and will head a team of 15 within the chain’s marketing department in a role that has been expanded to cater for HMV’s growing online aspirations.

"I learned much during my time at Amazon and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working with such a talented and dedicated group of people,” Hughes stated.

However, the exciting opportunity presented by HMV to help further develop its online presence was one I felt I simply couldn’t miss. I’m really looking forward to getting started and working with such a wonderful brand and with the great team they have there.”

Prior to her stint as head of DVD buying at Amazon, Hughes worked for now-passed distributor Entertainment UK and retailer MVC.
