HMV had soft-launched digital game downloads prior to administration

A digital games store had been launched on HMV.com just weeks before the chain fell into administration.

Located under a new ‘games downloads’ tab on the retailer’s homepage, the catalogue is run by Eurogamer-owned GetGames.

Prices are reasonably standard although a few deals can be found, such as Far Cry 1+2 for 4.99 and Civilization IV or Rage for 6.99.

As is the case with many retailer’s digital offers, the selection is limited to PC and Mac games.

HMV already sells music MP3s via a partnership with 7digital and partners with FilmFlex for a movies-on-demand offering.
