Microsoft slashes XBL price

Xbox 360 platform holder Microsoft has cut the price of Gold membership to its Xbox Live service in both Europe and North America in what it is describing as a limited time” deal

The North American price has dropped from $49.99 to $39.99 whilst the UK price has fallen 5 to 34.99, according to CVG.

A Microsoft statement reads: We are currently running a promotion in-dash that gives Silver members a special opportunity to upgrade to the full benefits of Gold membership at a reduced price for a limited time.”

There’s still no word on how long the offer will be available for.

Gold membership offers numerous advantages compared to free Silver membership, chief amongst them being the ability to play games online against other Xbox Live users.
