Nvidia reveals new $1,200 Titan X graphics card

There’s a new powerhouse in the PC graphics card market.

The new GeForce Titan X is based on the company’s recent GP102 architecture and packs some serious visual muscle. 11 teraflops of computing power is the headline, powered by 12bn transistors and a record-breaking 3,584 CUDA cores clocked at 1.53GHz.

On top of that there’s a massive 12GB of GDDR5X video RAM.

All of which comes at a price. A hell of a price, actually – $1,200. So probably north of a grand in real money. Nvidia is warned that it’s quite a big unit, too, so best measure up your case before dropping all those monies.

The card will be available to buy directly from Nvidia and select partners from August 2nd.

Nvidia now has four main cards in its current offering. The top-end Titan X, former performance leader the GTX 1080, the bang-for-your-buck GTX 1070 and the cheaper but still very impressive (and in some cases GTX 980 beating) GTX 1060.
