Online retail calls time on Christmas

As predicted by MCV, UK online retailers are telling customers to buy their games today or they won’t get them in time for Christmas.

GAME has pushed forward its last order date to today (Friday, December 17th). Consumers must order before 8pm tonight to guarantee delivery before Christmas. This affects all GAME websites, including Gamestation and Gameplay.

Amazon has also pushed forward its last order dates. Customers wanting ‘free super saver delivery’ will not get their games in time for Christmas, but those who select first class delivery have until 11:59pm tomorrow to place their orders. Amazon Prime Free Delivery is offered until 11:59pm on Monday, December 20th.

Play.com’s last order date still stands at December 19th. But the online firm has warned customers in the North of the UK that they cannot assure delivery before Christmas.

MCV revealed this morning that distribution hubs are overflowing and online retail is expecting sales to ‘drop off a cliff’ before the end of the week.
