The man in charge of online marketing at PlayStation Europe has been named Green Man Gaming’s new marketing director.

Darren Cairns worked at SCEE for six years, leading the publisher’s digital strategy for PlayStation and played a ‘instrumental’ role in the launch of PlayStation Network.

He has over 15 years of marketing experience, having also worked at Yahoo!, BT and mobile network, 3.

He joins following the appointment of HMV’s Martin Baxter, who has joined as head of trading.

"I think it’s a great opportunity to bring my experience in transforming the digital approach of some of Europe’s largest brands to Green Man Gaming and be part of it’s success. I have already been very impressed by the aspirations, commitment and drive of Paul, the team and our backers.”

Green Man Gaming MD Paul Sulyok added: I’m delighted that Darren has joined the team at Green Man Gaming. His knowledge of digital marketing is unrivalled in the games industry, offering us real benefits to our growing roster of publishing partners. As Europe’s fastest-growing independent digital distributor, we’re in fantastic shape to continue Green Man Gaming’s evolution.”
